Fun Things to Do in Myrtle Beach
Situated on the Atlantic Coast, this picturesque coastal city is home to miles of serene beaches, family-friendly attractions, excellent dining options, shopping malls, and award-winning golf courses. Indulge in exciting water activities like banana boat rides, parasailing, and jet skiing, or enjoy relaxing sunbathing on the beach.
Myrtle Beach & the Atlantic Ocean
The main reason most guests are here. Spend the day swimming, building sandcastles, relaxing in the sun, or trying parasailing, jet skis and other seasonal watersports. Since The Sandbar is an oceanfront hotel, I would make this the first experience and specifically emphasize that the beach is right outside the hotel rather than describing the generic "Grand Strand Beach." Myrtle Beach's Grand Strand encompasses about 60 miles of coastline.
Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade + SkyWheel
This is the classic Myrtle Beach experience for first-time visitors. Walk the oceanfront Boardwalk, grab food or ice cream, visit the shops, and ride the SkyWheel for panoramic views of the coastline. The Boardwalk runs roughly 1.2 miles, and the SkyWheel's climate-controlled gondolas operate year-round.
Family Kingdom Amusement Park
This should be especially prominent on the Sandbar site because it's on your end of Ocean Boulevard. Families can enjoy classic amusement rides, thrill rides, kiddie rides, games and that old-fashioned seaside-amusement-park atmosphere.
Broadway at the Beach
One of the easiest places to spend several hours or an entire evening. Guests can combine attractions, shopping, restaurants, bars, entertainment and seasonal events without driving from place to place. Admission to the complex itself is free; individual attractions charge separately.
Ripley's Aquarium of Myrtle Beach
One of the best family and rainy-day choices. Kids can see sharks, rays, penguins and immersive exhibits, and because it's at Broadway at the Beach, families can combine it with dinner, shopping and other activities.
The Market Common - Myrtle Beach
Particularly relevant to Sandbar because it's on the south side of Myrtle Beach. Guests can combine shopping, restaurants, a movie, parks and playgrounds in one walkable district. It's good for couples as well as families and gives visitors something different from Ocean Boulevard.
Myrtle Beach State Park
Recommend this to guests who want a quieter, more natural Myrtle Beach experience. It combines undeveloped beachfront, a maritime forest, walking trails, picnic areas and a fishing pier—all surprisingly close to the hotel area.
Brookgreen Gardens
This gives the page something completely different from amusement rides. Guests can explore botanical gardens, American sculpture, Lowcountry history and wildlife. It's especially good for couples, adults, grandparents and families wanting a slower-paced day. Brookgreen also opened a major new conservatory and welcome center in 2026.
Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show
Myrtle Beach is famous for live entertainment, so at least one major show belongs in the Top 10. Pirates Voyage is particularly family-friendly because dinner and entertainment are combined into one evening, with pirate battles, stunts and arena-style action.
Play Myrtle Beach Mini Golf
Rather than promoting one particular course, I would sell this as a Myrtle Beach experience. The area has 35+ mini-golf courses included in the official Myrtle Beach Mini Golf Trail, so families can choose the theme that looks most fun to them.
